Mass Effect 2, Star Trek 2, Avatar, Book of Eli Update

There’s a lot happening today.

  1. If you’re undecided about Mass Effect 2, its Metascore is at 97, with 25 reviews. Here is a great, spoiler-free review from Computer and Video Games, that states, “It’s as if BioWare compiled a big checklist of the first game’s bad points, and scratched them off one by one.”
  2. Total Film has an interview with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, as they discuss ideas for Star Trek 2. Basically they think Wrath of Khan was a successful sequel because it had a great villain. So they’re going to focus on that.
  3. Avatar reached the $1 billion mark faster than any film, and seemed destined to beat Titanic. Currently at $1.8 billion, it is at the cusp of doing so, and just set a record for biggest 6th weekend. The Oscar noms haven’t even been released yet. Scary.
  4. Meanwhile, Book of Eli dropped %52 from last weekend, and is projected to make $90 million. So much for precedent.
