Karate Kid is back. You may already know about this, but in case you don’t there is a Karate Kid remake starring Jaden Smith (Will Smith’s son) as the new Daniel-san, and Jackie Chan as the new Miyagi.
Apparently producer Will Smith wants to make this a star vehicle for his son. The script is co-penned by Michael Soccio, whose credits include King of Queens, and The Fresh Prince of Bell Air.
Reportedly this new Karate Kid movie won’t have Karate, but Kung Fu. I’m fine with that, as long as somewhere they make a reference to the Kobra Kai dojo, or have a cameo of Martin Cove. Hopefully the movie will include both, so that my heart will burst from nostalgia.
Karate Kid is slated to be released June 2010.
